Ronnie Ahalt- Last Watch 2026

By Board of Director Jessie Duvall
July 3, 2026

Today, we laid to rest a man whose impact on our fire company and our community can never truly be measured.

Mr. Ronnie was far more than a member of Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company—he was the heart of Company 20. He was the kind of person who embodied what it means to be a volunteer: selfless, dependable, hardworking, and always willing to lend a helping hand without ever expecting anything in return. Whether it was answering the call in the “good ole days”, supporting the company behind the scenes, or simply being there for a neighbor in need, Ronnie gave his time, his heart, and his unwavering dedication to serving others.

His legacy extends well beyond the walls of Station 20. Ronnie touched countless lives throughout Jefferson and the surrounding communities. Even when he wasn’t able to help in ways he once was, he didn’t let that stop him. He showed up every single time with a smile on his face ready to help (and crack a joke!). His kindness, quiet strength, contagious smile, and genuine love for the people around him are qualities that will never be forgotten. He showed us all that true service isn't measured by recognition—it's measured by the lives you touch, the friendships you build, and the difference you make every single day.

Today was a beautiful reminder of just how many people Ronnie influenced throughout his life. Seeing so many family members, friends, fellow firefighters, and community members come together to celebrate his life was a testament to the incredible man he was. While our hearts are heavy with sadness, they are equally full of gratitude for having had the privilege of knowing him and serving alongside him.

The firehouse will not be the same without Ronnie, but his spirit will forever remain a part of Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company. His work ethic, his dedication, his compassion, and his love for this community will continue to inspire generations of volunteers who follow in his footsteps. His memory will live on every time we come together in service to our community.

We ask at this tome that you continue to keep Company 20 and the Ahalt family in your thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks ahead.

Ronnie- Thank you for a lifetime of service, friendship, and unwavering dedication. Your watch may have ended, but your legacy will continue to guide us forever.
